The Shepherd's Hut

At the top of the garden, facing towards the voie verte, there's this little 'shepherd's hut'. During the day, a barn owl often sits under the roof eaves...

...inside, we've been told that the presence of a 'gun rack' above the fire, and the style of the fire place, indicate that this would have been used as a domestic dwelling for at least part of the year-possibly by a local shepherd. There is even still a scrap of old wall paper beside the front door. It's very difficult to age these traditional buildings since granite is so hard-wearing-however this little building has a real air of secrets and a past when you stand inside it...

...and the unusually heavy snow fall of 2010 added to the sense of mystery about this little building...I wonder if anyone has actually lived in it before now during this kind of cold weather...
